Driving the Future Today

driving-the-futureAll new cars will be ultra low emission from 2040

Every new car bought after 2040 will be an ultra-low emission vehicle (ULEV), according to government plans set out yesterday to decarbonise UK road transport entirely by the middle of the century.

The new package will be worth over £1bn through to 2020 in the form of investment, incentives, and tax breaks, and is designed to ensure the UK auto industry is at the forefront of what the government regards as an “inevitable” global shift towards ULEVs, prompted by increasing pressure to cut carbon emissions, improve air quality, and reduce energy imports.
