Motorists are paying over £1,000 a year in taxes to the Treasury, per the local government Association.
The Association, that represents 370 councils across the country, same Whitehall can build £38.0 billion within the current year from Vehicle Excise Duty, fuel duty and VAT – an increase of £400 million on the previous twelve months.
With thirty four million cars on the road, this works out at every automobilist paying £1,117 a year to central Government – £28 over last year.
At an equivalent time councils, that are answerable for maintaining the country’s native roads, face a £10.5 billion repair backlog.
